ווידאו ארט ועוד.
מפגש שני: "חבלי לידה – 1948-1967"
האמנות קידמה את פניה של המדינה בקשת של תגובות מהתגייסות נלהבת עד להתעלמות קרה ולהתנגדות רעיונית. במפגשנו השני נסקור השפעות אלו שיצרו את האמנות בראשיתה של המדינה החל מן הריאליזם הסובייטי ועד לאבסטרקט האקספרסיוניסטי האמריקאי וכן בפנייה להשפעות היסטוריות של התקופה המקראית.
ההרצאות ינתנו ע"י האמנית מיכל גביש שעבודותיה הוצגו בארץ ובארה"ב ולאחרונה בגלריית האמנים של SFMOMA . מיכל גביש בעלת תואר PhD בכימיה, משלימה בימים אלה את לימודיה לתואר שני באמנות ב- San Francisco Art Institute , ומקיימת באופן קבוע סיורי גלריות בנושא אמנות עכשווית.

60 Years of Israeli Art
Six Meetings Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the State of Israel
You are invited to a series of lectures on Israeli art. The series follows the story of art and its development in the six decades of the state of Israel. The meetings will cover various genres such as painting, photography, sculpture and video art from an artistic, historic and social aspect.
Israeli Art reflects the unique complexity of Israeli identity. In each meeting we will describe and analyze a decade of this development in parallel to both the newly formed society and to the changes of world art.
The lectures will be given by Michal Gavish whose works were exhibited in Israel and in the States, including her most recent show at the SFMOMA Artists Gallery. Michal Gavish, with a PhD in Chemistry is completing her MFA degree at the San Francisco Art Institute. In addition she is conducting bimonthly gallery tours on the subject of Contemporary Art.
Second Meeting: Birth Pains – 1948-1967
The new state of Israel was received in 1948 by the local art community in a variety of ways from loud enthusiasm for the cause to indifference and even to an active objection. In our second meeting we will discuss these reactions and their source in world art movements such as Soviet Realism and American Abstract Expressionism as well as the special influence of ancient Middle Eastern cultures.
