of Peace from the Middle East
Between Nov 7-9 Israel's most popular band- Shotey
Hanevua (the Fools of Prophecy), finished a two week tour in the
US here in San Francisco. In both Berkeley and
Stanford the concerts drew hundreds of students
for each concert. History was made In
San Francisco State University's (probably the
most anti-Israel campus in the country) main plaza at the middle
of campus at lunchtime in front of hundreds of students Jews, non-Jews,
Israelis and the core leaders of the Palestinian organization in
SFSU. Some knew the words to every song while others for the first
time heard their music and message of peace and unity and got a
rare introduction to the true voice of young Israel. CDs were sold
out to a huge verity of students, most non-Jewish. Palestinians
in the audience for the first time did not hold an anti-Israel rally
at an Israel event. No one could keep to their seat. What Fools
Of Prophecy did for the Israel image on these anti-Israel campuses
is immeasurable.

2005 ISRAEL'S BAND OF THE YEAR

FOOLS OF PROPHECY are a one of a kind musical
phenomenon- an ecstatic spiritual music celebration delivering a message
of peace and pluralism in a fusion of reggae, dub, hip hop and dance
spiced with a n eastern Mediterranean flavor, singing in Hebrew, Arabic
and English. Both in Lyrics and sound the band conveys in beautiful
harmony a fusion of East and West influences, including references
to the Jewish Mishna and Kabala, alongside lyrics in Arabic and Middle
Eastern harmonies. The range of musical styles and lyrical content
is unbelievably rich and is a strikingly true testament to the beautiful
cultural and spiritual variety that composes today's Israel.
