Holidays and traditions are rituals that take on meaning when we understand the symbols that are used to represent a festival. A small child sees a shape and learns the name of it. With time, the child recognizes the shape, understands what it represents, and why the symbol is then important to him/her. Each package of magnets highlights the various holiday symbols. These Jewish Holiday Magnets are versatile because they can be changed as each holiday occurs throughout the year. |

Voila Remy www.voilaremy.com Rémy Pessah, a chemist and a process engineer turned fashion designer prides herself with hand painted silk and designs that reflect her engineering background where geometry and precision prevail. Rémy uses discharge techniques and fiber reactive dyes to bring out the beauty of the different shades and color hues. She starts with black fiber and discharges part of the color by adding thiourea dioxide and soda ash to an immersion bath. She carefully controls the temperature and adjusts the time by immersion in cold water to stop the discharge process. In the fiber reactive technique, Rémy starts with white fiber and adds color during the dying process. Each of her fibers is heat set so that colors will not run or bleed. |
