Family Activities
Bring the entire family!
Educational activities will be available for children and adults
of all ages at Israel in the Gardens. Our focus is to educate young
participants and their families, generating a sense of pride and
give them an understanding of what Israel stands for, as well as
relating its significance to us as a Jewish community. We will offer
many opportunities to engage in educational activities related to
Israel, participate in an exciting underwater audio/ visual experience
that will display amazing marine life in the Red Sea. And we’ll
also be creating imaginative arts and crafts of underwater life
using recyclable materials.
Don’t miss the Family and children activities that will present
the amazing marine life of Eilat, Israel. The presentation will
include videos and music depicting the animals in their natural
environment, their beauty and their struggles, with live explanation
of interesting facts and humor by the Israeli filmmaker himself,
Ziggy Livnat. While watching these amazing films of the marine life
in the Red Sea, kids will work on making mobile/puppet fish out
of plastic bottles as an example of the reuse concept.

Drumming
and song leading with Rabbi Gershom Sizomu
Rabbi Gershom, of the Abayudaya
Jewish Comunity of Uganda, lives on Nabugoye Hill outside of
Mbale, Uganda, just feet from the Moses Synagogue which he, his
family and others from the community's early '80s "Kibbutz
movement" build with their own hands. Gershom is the headmaster
of the community's school, Semei Kakungulu High School, which is
open to Jews, Christians, Muslims and all other children of the
surrounding area. He is a guitar
player and writes music for the community. Gershom speaks Hebrew,
leads the community's religous observances and is the Abayudaya's
mohel.
