and are an excellent forum of exercise, both, for your body and
soul. They are created by choreographers of all ages, and are done
in a circle, line, individually or with a partner. The Israeli dances
are usually geared to all levels and age groups, to meet the needs
of people with or with no experience. They can be done at any event
or gathering, and are a dynamic social source. Israeli dances can
also be done at your synagogue or school functions, such as, single
groups, havura, Oneg Shabbat, as a family program, or an adult education
class.
Russian Folk Dancers - Russian folk music is the
indigenous vocal (accompanied and unaccompanied) and instrumental
music of the Russian peasantry, consisting of songs and dances for
work, entertainment, and religious and ritual occasions. Its origins
lie in customary practice; until the industrial era it was an oral
tradition, performed and learned without written notation. Russian
folk music includes songs marking seasonal and ritual events, and
music for figure or circle dances (korovody) and the faster
chastye or plyasovye dances.
Mah
Tovu Band / Mah Tovu Band singing with the kids - is
comprised of Steve Brodsky, Ken Chasen, and Josh Zweiback. Whether
performing as an acoustic trio or backed by their high-energy rock
‘n’ roll band, Mah Tovu’s dynamic and moving performances
have gained a loyal and enthusiastic following across the country.
Their fresh and exciting contemporary Jewish music is much more
than entertainment, however. Mah Tovu’s original songs use
rock ‘n’ roll as a means of teaching Jewish history,
Hebrew, Jewish values and more. Their music entertains and educates,
informs and inspires (see kolyisrael).
