OR (Orly Rosenbaum)

OR1992 through 2000 I worked in L.A. for Harari and for Richard Tyler, and studied textile design at Otis School of Art. A few years ago I moved back to Israel, where I currently reside, and where I design and produce my line. OR is a collection of sophisticated casual wear. I use mostly natural fiber based fabrics, and combine Avante-garde, Architectural and Japanese influences in my designs. I often create asymetrical designs and pieces that can be worn in more then one way, and strive to form a clean but interesting looking line. The pieces are semi-fitted, comfortable and always stylish. My customers are in their 30's - 60's. Since Sept. 2005 I've been presenting the line at the Atelier Designers Show in New York, and have been selling to specialty boutiques in the U.S.A.

Rachel Hazan - Shenkar School of Fashion Design

Rachel Hazan"I am 26 years old. I am in my 4th year of Fashion Design studies in Shenkar college. I grew up in Beer-Sheva, a big city in the south of Israel. After graduating high-school I joined the army. I served in a special group for religious soldiers, and for 2 years I was a 'Teacher Soldier'. I enjoyed my military service very much and felt I was serving my country in the best way I could. After I was discharged from the army I started my studies in Shenkar. It was a huge exposure for me, because it was the first time for me to deal with designing. During my studies in Shenkar I took various courses, such as: Knit-wear, Hats, 'between garments to jewelry'-cooperation with jewelry designing student, Theatre costume, Vintage, Children wear, Evening dresses and Tailoring. I have learned a lot during my studies in Shenkar, about fashion, design and about myself as a designer. In these days I am working on my final project which summarizes my studies, and waiting anxiously to start my way as a fashion designer."

Chen Rotberg - Shenkar School of Fashion Design

Chen Rotberg"I am inspired by the eastern european immigrants that came to israelin the first 'aliyot' movment. my outfit has been through a journey of its own. its encounter with israel forced it to be something new and local, yet still similar to how it started.  the heavy tailored clothing that the immigrants wore in the cold climate of their birth countries meets the warm mediterranean enviroment' forming a look that is lighter and less put- together."

Hagit Kassif - Shenkar School of Fashion DesignHagit Kassif Kesner

"My name is Hagit Kassif Kesner, 23.5 years of age. I'm living in Tel-Aviv and I'm a second year student in the fashion design department of Shenkar College. The outfit that I represent was made in the frame of a men's wear course (under the instruction of Ilan Beja and Daniella Dotan). I decided to design a collection inspired by two musical genres which, as described bellow, have few things in common – Jazz and the Israeli band 'Givatron'.

Earth, labor and ideals of self-fulfillment are the connecting components between the two inspirational musical subjects at the basis of the collection which I have designed – Jazz and the Givatron Band. In its character, the Givatron Band conserves the way of life of the Kibbutz Movement and is identified with the Israeli settlement and pioneership. Working with the land was also the way of the black people from Africa who came to America as slaves, and not out of idealism, in order to work in the fields of the white people and created a new musical style – the Jazz. The collection constitutes a bridge where opposite ends like brusqueness and elegance, clean and dirty, happiness and sorrow meet by using contradicting factors in the collection – elegant cuts with more simple fabrics which are suitable for both the day and night.

The blue shirt is my interpretation for the famous blue work clothes from the Kibbutz. The knit of the collar brings some nostalgic scent as well."
